2021 AAUW Tech Trek NM VIRTUAL STEM Camp!

The cost to each girl selected is only $50.

AAUW Tech Trek is proud to announce their 8th annual week-long STEM summer camp for rising eigth-grade girls July 18-23, 2021.

Because of the Covid-19 pandemic, the camp will be presented in an online virtual format rather than as a residential camp on the campus of New Mexico Tech in Socorro, NM.

The postponed 2020 camp will also be held virtually in 2021. The girls who were selected in the spring of 2020 to attend camp will be invited to the June virtual camp.

The curriculum under development will include off-screen hands-on projects, and virtual field trips. The curriculum is being designed to look and feel quite different from regular online school. The curriculum for the postponed 2020 camp will be adjusted to meet the abilities of girls who have completed the 8th grade.

As always, the classes will be taught be women who are experienced middle school teachers or experienced online teachers. They are also gearing up to provide the necessary hardware for wi-fi connectivity to girls who may not have internet access at home.

The AAUW Tech Trek environment provides girls with female STEM role models as well as many opportunities for learning and practicing new skills both individually individually and as members of a team. Each girl will take a core class in a subject ranging from astronomy to cybersecurity to robotics to probability and statistics. Virtual field trips in a variety of areas are also provided for the whole group. Please visit their webpage at https://techtrek-nm.aauw.net/ to learn more.

As in years past, the cost to each girl selected is only $50.
