AYPF Youth Summit - Part 3

AYPF Youth Summit - Wednesday, August 31st from 5:30pm - 7:00pm MT

Part three of a 3-part virtual summit

This engaging, interactive, and fun three-part virtual event (Aug. 3, 17 and 31) will amplify youth voices and celebrate the power of young people to create change.

At the Youth Summit, we will hear from young leaders and their allies. Participants will learn about successes and challenges faced by young people leading reforms and explore how we can break down barriers and create opportunities to improve youth outcomes. Thought leaders, youth advocates, and policymakers are also invited to listen, learn, and join us in amplifying youth voices.

With the belief that those closest to the problem have a unique understanding of solutions, AYPF is partnering with young people to provide insights from their experiences to help shape policies and programs that directly impact their lives. For lawmakers to create policies that reflect the strengths and realities of our young people and achieve positive outcomes—especially including the goals they have for themselves and their communities—youths’ voices must be at the center of the policymaking process.

3-part Youth Summit Sessions

“The Power of Young People to Create Change”

In the first session, you’ll hear from:

  • A youth activist from the Civil Rights Movement
  • A young leader on a mission to reform youth justice systems
  • A changemaker revolutionizing youth political engagement.

The second session will focus on the school-to-prison pipeline. And the third session will highlight needs for employment policy reforms. More information on these sessions coming soon!

Exclusively for Young People: Following the panel discussions at each session, breakout rooms will provide an opportunity for young people to share their interests and explore how we can transform systems and policies to better serve them and their communities. In addition, youth participants will be entered into a drawing to win gifts cards at each session – just for attending.
