About this year's poster

Painted by students of the LEAP afterschool program at PS100x in Bronx, NY, this year’s poster features a mural that “reflects the joyful community of PS100.” The mural, located on the school building leading up the entrance “incorporates nature, leadership, and imagination, using oversized flowers as points of interaction for students and the school community.” The flowers feature silhouettes of varying sizes “representing different ages and stages of learning and growth.” While the flowers themselves—a collection of sunflowers and marigolds—“represent blooms of learning.”

In 2018, LEAP celebrated Lights On Afterschool with an arts showcase: Art Happens Here, which took place at the Bronx Museum of the Arts and featured nearly 70 youth performers from across eight Bronx-based LEAP Afterschool programs. Assemblywoman Latoya Joyner joined the festivities and even presented a check in support of Bronx-based elementary and middle school programming.

Registration for this year's celebration is now open! Every event registered will receive 10 free Lights On Afterschool posters to help promote your celebration!
