The Lt. Governor's Regional Conference on Afterschool Learning

The Lt. Governor's Regional Conference on Afterschool Learning

The Lieutenant Governor of New Mexico, Howie Morales, is a stalwart supporter of out-of-school time learning in the state. On January 8, 2020, in collaboration with NMOST and the New Mexico State University STEM Outreach Center, the Lt. Governor convened a regional conference on afterschool learning in O'Donnell Hall on the NMSU Campus. More than 90 people attended to hear the Lt. Governor, NMOST Executive Director May Sagbakken, and a panel that included:

  •  Dr. Karen Trujillo, Superintendent of the Las Cruces School District
  •  Dr. Susan Brown, Dean of STEM Education at NMSU
  •  Ashley Echavarria, CEO of Boys & Girls Club of Las Cruces
  •  Wanda Tamez-Bulger, Director of the NMSU STEM Outreach Center
  •  Tyson Ledgerwood, NM PED 21st Century Community Learning Center Coordinator
  •  Laura Silva, NGage NM 21st Century Community Learning Center Coordinator
  •  Teresa Navarro, Principal, Riverside Elementary School, Gadsden School District
  •  Stephanie Vargas, Program Coordinator, Famliies & Youth, Inc., Las Cruces
  •  May Sagbakken, NMOST Executive Director

Below are links to YouTube videos from the conference. These clips were taken with a handheld iPad in a dimly lit room, so apologies for any shakiness and jumpy transitions, along with the low lighting. The sound is clear, but low volume, so you'll have to turn up playback volume very high.
