Gender Equity in OST STEM Consultant

  • The New Mexico Out-of-School Time Network (NMOST) seeks a consultant to partner with the network on a project intended to better understand and improve the landscape for girls in out-of-school time (OST) STEM programs in New Mexico. NMOST will establish a coalition for gender equity in OST STEM and create a cohesive plan for policy and program development for the next ten (10) years. NMOST will work with coalition members to outline a forward direction for 2020 and beyond, focused on unique transformational strategies to increase the number of girls and young women participating in STEM. With input from coalition members, OST providers, and youth, NMOST will develop guidelines and materials to increase engagement of girls and young women in STEM programming, using available toolkits, research and best practices. For the full job description and submission information go here.

New Mexico Afterschool and Summer Meals VISTA

  • The Afterschool and Summer Meals Expansion VISTA project is a patnership between the Afterschool Alliance and the New Mexico Out-of-School Time Network in our mission to provide high quality afterschool programs for all. VISTA members working on this project work closely with afterschool and summer programs that offer meals through the Child and Adult Care Food Program, and focus on recruiting new sites to participate in this program. ​New Mexico STEM Afterschool Expansion VISTA

  • New Mexico Out-of-School Time Network (NMOST) is embarking on exciting new work to expand the amount of STEM opportunities in afterschool programs. High quality afterschool programs have shown to increase student academic performance, behavioral improvements and have been a factor in supporting regular school attendance. The overall focus of the STEM project is to continue to develop statewide systems and practices that can increase the amount and quality of STEM programming in afterschool to engage underserved low-income students, students of color, and students in rural communities in STEM. The STEM Afterschool Expansion Vista will work to build partnerships with STEM-related businesses, industry partners, higher education officials, and schools to increase coordination and improve the quality of afterschool programs.
