Living, Teaching, & Embracing SEL with Jocelyn Guansing, Every Monday Matters

At any given moment, we can experience a variety of feelings from despair to happiness, frustration to joy, and everything in between. How we recognize and regulate our emotions shapes how we show up every day, interact with the people around us, and better understand how we can create a safer, healthier, and thriving space for everyone. Social and emotional learning (SEL) is how we bring awareness to not just what we experience, but how we want to experience it. Attendees will be introduced to the strong connection between SEL, and EMM’s Mattering Mindset, explore how to integrate social and emotional learning practices and routines in our classrooms and programs, and provide meaningful experiences for students and families from which they will learn, grow and live.

MONDAY, APRIL 14, 11:30 am – 12:30 pm

Mindfulness, Presence and Listening for Leaders with Bobby Canosa-Carr, Enlighten Leadership Coaching

One of the primary challenges of leadership is our human tendency to react instinctively rather than to respond with intentionality. Making the shift from reactive leadership to responsive leadership requires the ability to be fully present, to listen deeply, and to notice what is often overlooked. In this workshop, participants will learn the science behind our reactive tendencies, and will practice easy-to-implement techniques that support mindfulness, presence, and the power of purposeful listening.

MONDAY, APRIL 28, 11:30 am – 12:30 pm

What to Expect When You Are Expecting to Be a Supervisor with Katherine Spinney, PCC, MT, MSW

Less than half of those in supervisory roles receive training and support on how to do their jobs effectively. This results in frustration, burnout, and turnover for supervisors, staff, and students. The goal of this session is to ensure that you are set up for success before and throughout your time as a supervisor. It will provide you with the opportunity to think about what motivates you to become a supervisor, what you already have to make you successful, and what support you will need.
