On October 23, Abiquiu Elementary School hosted a successful Lights On Afterschool event! This engaging event was designed to promote enriching, family-centered learning through hands-on STEM exploration in partnership with Explora, whose staff set up many exciting STEM activities. Abiquiu Elementary staff was pleased to welcome students and parents who actively participated in the learning stations. Explora staff, led by Anna, organized several stations showcasing materials-rich, bilingual science activities tailored for family investigation. Key activities included designing and constructing objects for rolling motion and building intricate ramps and marble runs using materials like rubber matting and large Duplo blocks. The afternoon provided a fun, collaborative, and STEM-enriched family learning experience. To continue this momentum, Abiquiu Elementary has scheduled a follow-up Lights On Afterschool event for December 11, where Explora will once again present an exciting STEM activity: “Be a Mad Hatter” from 3:15 PM to 4:15 PM.
